Thomas Matthew Stubbs

Thomas Matthew Stubbs, a beloved son, brother, and friend, passed away on May 21, 2024, in his hometown of Coleman, Texas. He was born on July 4, 2002, in Coleman to Carlos Mata and Kayla Stubbs, bringing great joy to his family.

Thomas led a fulfilling life working in the oil field after graduating from Abilene High School in 2023 and also attending welding school. His dedication to his work was evident to all who knew him.

Beyond his career, Thomas was known for his vibrant personality that could light up any room. His smile and big heart endeared him to everyone he met. Thomas had a passion for various hobbies such as fishing, hunting, and working on cars. These activities brought him joy and relaxation in his free time.

Thomas is survived by a large and loving family who will cherish his memory forever. Besides his parents, he is also survived by his loving grandparents who raised him, Donette and David Harrison; his siblings, Autumn Stubbs, Emyli Stubbs, Mya Harrison, Izabella Stubbs, Ariel Mata, Kassondra Gutierrez, Serena Mata, Fabian Mata, David Gutierrez, Xenia Mata, Anaya Mata, Carlos Mata Jr., and Damion Mata. He is also survived by his caring grandparents Carlos Mata Sr. and Leticia Mata; as well as aunts and uncles: C.J. Stewart, Kirk and Stephine Stewart, Edgar Mata, and Laura Mata. Additionally, Thomas leaves behind numerous cousins and friends who will miss him deeply.

In honoring the life of Thomas Matthew Stubbs, we remember a kind-hearted individual whose warmth touched the lives of many around him. He will be dearly missed but forever remembered with love and fondness by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

The family will host a visitation from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, May 26, 2024, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman. Family and friends are invited to a funeral service celebrating his life at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 27, 2024, at Hords Creek Cowboy Church, 3900 US Hwy 153, Coleman, with Rev. Seth Moore officiating. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home.
