ABILENE – The Bangs Lady Dragons’ softball season came to an end Monday afternoon at Abilene Christian University with a 13-0, six-inning loss to the Stamford Lady Bulldogs in Game 3 of a Region I-2A area playoff series.
After dropping Game 1 by a 6-0 count Thursday in Early, the Lady Dragons (20-10) won Game 2 by a 14-4 count at Abilene Christian University Saturday. That game didn’t end until 11 p.m. due to the weather, and the UIL ruled Game 3 would then have to be played Monday.
In the series finale, Stamford (21-8) pitcher Emma Follis struck out 15 and limited Bangs to just three hits over six innings, while the Lady Bulldogs strung together 18 hits.
Neeley Bradley was the lone Lady Dragon to reach base, notching three singles.
Bangs trailed 3-0 after one inning, 4-0 through two, and Stamford tacked on five runs in the fifth inning. The Lady Bulldogs scored four more runs in the sixth to enforce the 10-run mercy rule.
