There will be no changes on the board of the Brown County Water Improvement District #1, one of the three open spots on the Bangs City Council will be occupied by a new face, and both incumbents in the Early ISD Board of Trustees races were defeated in Saturday’s Cities, Schools, and Local Subdivisions elections.
In a four-person race for the water board positions, incumbents James E. McMillian (360 votes – 33.36%), Johnny Hays (299 votes – 27.71%) and Jimmy Jones (261 votes – 24.19%) led in votes received for the three open spots, as Andrew Wheeler (159 votes – 14.74%) was unable to grab a seat.
Eight people ran for three open positions on the Bangs City Council as incumbents Gregg Parrott (57 votes – 16.91%) and William Lloyd (56 votes – 16.62%) will remain, but receiving the most votes was Cynthia Frizzell Johnson (63 votes – 18.69%), who will take over for Waymond Sheppard (36 votes – 10.68%). Other contenders included Slade Byars (54 votes – 16.02%), Carroll Wells (37 votes – 10.98%), Aaron Gomez (23 votes – 6.82%), and Jerry Ellison (11 votes – 53.26%).
In the race for the Early ISD Board of Trustees Place 1, Jonathan McCullough (224 votes – 56.57%) defeated incumbent and board president Chance Barr (172 votes – 43.43%). Meanwhile, in the Place 2 battle, Larin Hair (238 votes – 59.65%) upended incumbent Robert Wade (161 votes – 40.35%)
