President Biden is reportedly considering a “national climate emergency” to pander to his radical base of climate activists in an election year. A climate emergency will mean more harmful regulations on energy producers. This would threaten our national security while driving up costs for all Americans.
Since his first day in office, the Biden Administration has vowed to destroy American-made reliable energy sources. Instead of addressing real emergencies – like skyrocketing inflation or record-high energy costs, the White House would rather push an aggressive green climate agenda.
I introduced the Real Emergencies Act to clarify that the President does not have the authority to declare a national emergency on the premise of climate change. This legislation ensures that President Biden does not abuse his power of office to pursue an anti-American energy agenda. Energy security will always be national security.
Antisemitism on College Campuses
I strongly condemn the antisemitic, terrorist-supporting protests happening at college campuses and in cities across the country that are threatening the safety of Jewish Americans. It is appalling to see thousands of people across the United States openly supporting the Hamas terrorists who waged a brutal attack on Israel only six months ago. The associated attacks on law enforcement are also unacceptable.
In response, I am drafting legislation to strip federal scholarships from any student convicted of assaulting a law enforcement officer.
I also introduced The Terrorist Inadmissibilty Codification Actto prohibit members, officers officials, and representatives of Hamas and other terrorist organizations from entering the United States. President Biden must take immediate action to ensure our borders are secure from those wishing harm against Americans. We must continue to stand firm with our ally Israel and our Jewish friends and neighbors.
Protecting Postal Offices in Texas-11
I introduced the Timely Mail Delivery and Postal Services Protections Act to freeze the consolidation of mail processing facilities by the U.S. Postal Service (USPS). The USPS plans to scale back operations at crucial processing sites nationwide — including the facility in Midland, Texas, that serves 172,000 people in the county and thousands of families and businesses throughout West Texas.
Reducing operations at the Midland facility would significantly impact those dependent on the Postal Service for essential services like business transactions, educational materials, voting processes, vital medications, and bill payments.
My legislation ensures our Midland Post Office will remain operating full-speed ahead.
Holding Hamas and Other Foreign Terrorist Organizations Accountable
I joined my colleague Congressman Greg Steube (FL-17) in introducing The Iranian Terror Prevention Act, which would designate 11 Iranian groups as Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTOs). The bill will also implement necessary sanctions and affirm the United States’ commitment to supporting Israel.
