SAN ANGELO – The May Tigers and Lady Tigers will be represented in a quartet of events at the UIL Class A Track and Field State Championships Saturday, May 4 at the University of Texas’ Myers Stadium in Austin, based on their weekend performance at the Region II-A meet at Angelo State.
Advancing as the regional champion is the Lady Tigers 4×200 relay team of Chloe Lord, Jordyn Gerhardt, Ariel Palmer and Kenleigh Williford (1:52.02), while also punching tickets are Williford (16-3.5), who placed second in the girls long jump, Amanda Harrell (117-5), who came in second in the girls discus, and Ben Harrell (22.93), who was runner-up in the boys 200 meters.
Harrell is making her third straight trip to state and earned a silver medal last year. Williford qualified for state a year ago but was unable to compete due an injury. Harrell had to wait through a seven-hour weather delay to finish his race late Saturday night.
