WINTERS – The reigning District 6-2A softball champion Bangs Lady Dragons inched closer to a repeat with a 15-4 victory at Winters Tuesday.
Bangs (16-8, 8-0) led 2-0 after one inning, 7-0 after two, 7-2 through three, 12-2 after four, and 13-4 heading to the sixth and final frame.
The Lady Dragons amassed 18 hits, including five for extra bases, as Cheyenne Rush led the way with four hits – including a home run and a pair of doubles – and four RBIs. Neeley Bradley contributed three hits and two RBIs, while Abby Wolf finished with a pair of hits – including a home run – and two RBIs. Jadyn Miller notched three hits, one being a double, and drove in one. Mattisyn Taylor and Emily Baker both chipped in two hits and one RBI, Jordan Valdez added one hit and an RBI, Julianne Ethridge tallied a hit, and Justice Baker recorded an RBI.
In the circle, Wolf pitched six innings and yielded three earned runs on nine hits with 11 strikeouts and one walk. The Bangs defense committed a pair of errors.

Miles 9, Bangs Dragons 5
MILES – The Bangs Dragons were dealt their second District 7-2A baseball loss by the Miles Bulldogs, 9-5, Tuesday afternoon.
Bangs (12-8, 6-2) trailed 3-0 after one inning, pulled even at 3 in the top of the second, fell behind 4-3 in the bottom half, and saw Miles boost the advantage to 7-3 in the fourth. Both teams tacked on two runs in the fifth inning.
The Dragons were limited to three hits – two by Hunter Crowell, who drove in a pair of runs, and one by Zack Ferguson. Skylar Minshew was also credited with an RBI as Bangs drew five walks and was aided by three Miles errors.
On the mound, Kenny Cole and Ferguson combined to allow six earned runs on 10 hits with five strikeouts and four walks. The Dragon defense committed a pair of errors behind them.

Peaster 4, Early Longhorns 3 (Monday)
EARLY – The Early Longhorns fell to 2-7 in District 8-3A baseball action and 5-15-1 overall with a 4-3 home loss to Peaster Monday night in a game moved up a day due to the threat of inclement weather.
Early gave up a run in the top of the second inning, but grabbed a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the frame. The Longhorns boosted the advantage to 3-1 in the fifth inning, but Peaster rallied with three runs in the top of the seventh.
The Longhorns chalked up three hits – two from Weston Barton and one by Rohyn Price, who drove in a run. Jordan Campos and Ki Houston were also credited with RBIs.
On the mound, Ethan Pallette and Landen Brandstetter combined to allow four runs – none earned – on five hits with five strikeouts and six walks. The Early defense committed four errors.

Peaster 21, Early Lady Horns 1 (Monday)
EARLY – The Early Lady Horns slipped to 6-18 overall and 3-8 in District 8-3A softball action with a 21-1 home loss in a game that was moved up to Monday.
The Lady Horns scored their only run in the third inning, while Peaster compiled 11 in the first inning, five in the second and five in third.
Early tallied two hits, one each by Marissa Reedy and Stoney Laughlin. Aubrey Greaves collected the RBI.
Leslee Beard and Sydney Greaves gave up just four earned runs on 11 hits with five walks as the Early defense committed six errors.
