Longhorns, Lady Horns combine to send 14 entries to area track meet

DUBLIN – The Early Longhorns and Lady Horns are combining to send 14 entries – 7 on the boys side and 7 on the girls – to the 7-3A/8-3A area meet in Breckenridge on Thursday, April 11.

The top four finishers in each district event advance, as the Lady Horns earned seven medals at the 8-3A meet – four gold and three bronze – while the Longhorns brought home three – one gold, one silver and one bronze.

The Longhorns, who mustered just 7 points on opening day, produced 52 points overall which left them in fifth place after Thursday’s conclusion. Brock coasted to the district championship with 223 points.

Meanwhile, the Lady Horns, who led after day one, finished in sixth place with 72 points. Brock tallied 129 to also win the girls side.

Points-producing results for Early are as follows:

1st place

Grey Pruett in the high jump (5-2)

Jamie Vassar in the shot put (38-3)

Ellie Shea in the discus (116-6)

Matty Boswell in the 100-meter hurdles (15.89)

3rd place

Jenna Hataway in the long jump (16-7)

Jenna Hataway in the triple jump (33-11.25)

Kelcy Simpson in the high jump (4-10)

5th place

Ellie Shea in the shot put (30-5.5)

Aislin McCleery in the 400 meters (1:03.63)

Matty Boswell in the 300-meter hurdles (51.15)

4×400 relay of Jordan Rutherford, Steely Fielder, Grey Pruett and Aislin McCleery (4:26.18)

6th place

Rayanna Barzart in the shot put (29-10.5)

Steely Fielder in the 300-meter hurdles (51.91)

4×100 relay of Jaeli Bowyer, Jenna Hataway, Hallie Thornberry and Matty Boswell (51.72)
