Last week we published a story about Brownwood native Jeff Walker, who is retiring this month as Executive Administrator of the Texas Water Development Board. The TWDB is charged with developing a “secure water future for Texas.” One of their functions is to “Administer cost-effective financial programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agriculture conservation projects.” Three water projects in Brown County were financed by the Texas Water Development Board:
2005 – BROWN COUNTY WATER IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT
The TWDB helped to finance the water treatment plant expansion, a $20 million project.
2014 – CITY OF EARLY
The TWDB helped to finance a new lagoon wastewater treatment plant, with an irrigation system for land disposal of effluent, $8,365,000
2018 – CITY OF BANGS
The TWDB helped finance improvements to the City’s water system, including the replacement of existing water lines; upsizing of the supply line from the pump station to the elevated water storage tank; and installation of a supervisory control and data acquisition system. $1,760,000
