Carlee Burks and the Brownwood girls (3-5) will next play at 1:30 p.m. Saturday against Ingram Tom Moore at the Llano tournament, followed by a 4:30 p.m. game against a yet to be determined foe.

LLANO – The Brownwood Lady Lions snapped a three-game skid and won their opener at the Llano softball tournament, 13-2 over Junction Thursday.

The Lady Lions (3-5) scored six runs in the first inning and seven in the second, while giving up two runs in the top of the second inning in the time-limit contest.

Brownwood drew seven walks, notched a pair of hits, and were aided by a Junction error.

Carlee Burks doubled and Jeniffer Romero singled. Romero also walked twice, as did Jakayla Peek, while Burks, Maitlyn Esquivel and Lila Mares also drew free passes. Burks, Romero, Esquivel, Peek, Tynlea Wilson and Peyton Pena recorded RBIs.

In the circle, Wilson gave up two unearned runs on three hits with four strikeouts and three walks.

The Lady Lions’ Friday home game against Brady has been canceled, so the next action for Brownwood will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday against Ingram Tom Moore at the Llano tournament, followed by a 4:30 p.m. game against a yet to be determined foe.
