The Brown County Sheriff’s Office posted the following on Facebook Friday morning warning of a potential scam:

Our office has been notified that an individual identifying as Deputy Terry Evans with the Brown County Sheriff’s Office has been contacting local residents. He is stating he needs to speak with them on an urgent matter. The number is showing to be a private number; however, he gives a phone number for you to contact him on. Please be aware we do not have a Deputy Terry Evans employed with the Brown County Sheriff’s Office. Do not do as he instructs. If you have question on the legitimacy of a call in regards to the sheriff’s office, please call our office to verify.
