Born October 25, 1945 in Menard, Texas to parents Frank and Velma (Henry) Tuckness, Helen passed away July 16, 2014 in Seattle, Washington at the age of 68.
Helen graduated from El Dorado High School in 1964 and Texas Woman’s University. Helen’s professional life revolved around service to others, both as a volunteer for several organizations including (Atlanta) Volunteer Staff, High Museum of Art, Parent Volunteer at Atlanta Public Schools; (Dallas) President of FA Brown Farmstead; President of the Historic Preservation League; Appointed Representative to the Dallas Zoning Review Board; President of Lakewood Chamber of Commerce; (Seattle) active member of Washington State Democratic Party, and as a homemaker.
In 2003, she moved from Cambrai, France to Seattle. She married William Swint and together they enjoyed 45 amazing years of marriage. In her leisure time, Helen enjoyed a wide variety of interests including neighborhood and architectural preservation; political activism; music; entertaining; history and art focused travel; reading mysteries and spending time with friends and family.
In addition to her husband William Swint, Helen is survived by daughter: Leesa Caroline (Swint) Engelmann, Chicago, IL (married to Keith Engelmann); granddaughter: Helen Daily Engelmann; brother: Sam Tuckness, (deceased) married to Sue Tuckness, Uvalde, TX; nieces: Carla Tuckness Trevino, Weatherford, TX (married to Danny Trevino), Cheryl Tuckness Renfro of Uvalde, TX (married to James Renfro); nephew: Michael Tuckness of Uvalde, TX; grandnieces: Ericka Trevino, Weatherford, TX, Haylee Renfro, Uvalde, TX; grandnephew: Aaron Trevino, Weatherford, TX.
