GLEN ROSE – The Brownwood Lady Lions opened District 6-4A girls basketball action with a 70-19 loss to No. 1 Glen Rose Friday night.
The Lady Lions (16-9, 0-1) trailed Glen Rose (22-2, 1-0) by a 22-7 count after one quarter, 41-11 at halftime, and 57-17 heading into the fourth period.
Brownwood shot 25 percent (9 of 36) from the floor, but just 7 percent (1 of 14) on three-pointers, and did not attempt a free throw. The Lady Lions also committed 24 turnovers, tallied 16 rebounds and amassed just three steals.
Miranda Northcutt scored eight points for Brownwood trailed by six from Trinity Roberts, three from Kimber Green and two points from Hannah Deen.
The Lady Lions open the home portion of their district slate at 5:45 p.m. against Mineral Wells.
