KOXE-KBWD and Wendlee Broadcasting on Wednesday held their annual toy drives for Toys for Kids of Brown County and combined to raise well over $19,000 and collect more than 1,200 toys.
At the 18th annual Two-Steppin’ for Toys hosted by KOXE-KBWD, a total of $10,964.38 was collected, the second-most in the event’s history, along with 1,179 toys donated – including 38 bicycles.
Wendlee Broadcasting raised more than $8,500 and a truckload of toys were donated and taken to Grand Starz – according to Stacee Hetzel with Toys for Kids – which will be the site of Distribution Day on Saturday, Dec. 16.
Combined, the two stations sent $19,464.38 in cash donations to the Toys for Kids Organization, which started 27 years ago. That money will be used to buy toys and other needed items that have not yet been donated.
