Brownwood ISD issued the following press release Monday:
This month’s spotlight teacher is Susan Mora. Ms. Mora is a Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) teacher at Northwest Elementary. She is a state certified teacher (Special Education EC-12, Generalist EC-6) and holds a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences degree from the University of the Incarnate Word and an Associates degree in Applied Science from Delmar College. Ms. Mora has been with Brownwood ISD (BISD) since 2021.
Ms. Mora’s passion for teaching, dedication to her students, and commitment to her school family make her a champion teacher! She consistently demonstrates a deep commitment to her students’ academic and personal growth. Her ability to connect with her students on an individual level is truly remarkable, and she creates a safe and inclusive learning environment where every student feels valued and respected. She employs a variety of teaching strategies and resources to cater to different learning styles, ensuring that all students have the opportunity to grow. In addition to her exceptional teaching abilities, Ms. Mora is a role model of empathy and compassion.
BISD is thankful to have teachers like Ms. Mora, who go above and beyond to ensure each child
receives the support and guidance they need to succeed.
Our staff spotlight honoree for the month is Misti Gillard. Ms. Gillard is an administrative assistant and campus secretary at Brownwood Middle School (BMS). Her prior positions include cafeteria worker, manager, ISS teaching assistant, and receptionist. This is Ms. Gillard’s 25th year with Brownwood ISD,
and every year has been at BMS.
Ms. Gillard is very knowledgeable about the campus, and always provides a willing spirit when asked for help. She responds to every request quickly, and works hard to help the middle school campus run smoothly on a daily basis. Ms. Gillard is great to work with and is literally the glue that holds the campus together. From supporting teachers and finding subs, to filling in for the registrar and taking attendance, she is always willing to step in and help out wherever there is a need.
We are grateful to have dependable and dedicated staff like Ms. Gillard who consistently go the extra
mile to provide support to our teachers, staff, and students.
