Brown County Precinct 3 Commissioner Wayne Shaw recently announced his intention to run for re-election and issued the following press release:
I am Wayne Shaw. I was born and raised in Brown County. I graduated from Blanket High School. I went on to further my education at both Howard Payne University and completed my graduate studies with a degree in Administration and Mid Management from Tarleton State University.
I married Diane Moore in 1966, together we had twin girls – Amy and Angie.
Amy is married to John Reagan. Amy followed in the education footsteps and is a retired teach and Early ISD and is now employed by Hamilton Small Schools Co-op. Her husband, John, retired from TxDOT and is currently working there once again as an inspector and paving consultant. Together, they have two daughters – Lily and Laiken. The girls are grown and have careers of their own in teaching and insurance, respectively.
Angie is married to Todd Hufstutler. Angie also went into education. She is the Director of the Hamilton Small Schools Co-op and her husband, Todd, is an owner of Hufstutler Contracting Services in Comanche, Texas as well as being involved in the ranching business. Angie and Todd also have two daughters – Madeline and Jilian. Madeline has completed her PhD degree in psychology and is employed in Killeen, Texas. Jilian is currently in graduate school for physical therapy.
In the early years after college, I became a teacher and a coach in both Corpus Christi and Sonora, Texas from 1969-73.
My family and I moved back to Brown County in 1972 and began our ranching business. I went to work for the Texas Department of Transportation from 1977-81. Afterwards I decided to return to my love of coaching at my alma mater of Blanket High School as both the principal and coach from 1981-84. From 1984 to 2012 I was employed in chemical sales.
In 2012 I began my political journey by being elected Brown County Commissioner of Precinct 3. There has been much improvement to the infrastructure in Precinct 3 during my tenure. I have worked diligently to help keep the taxes and spending as low as possible while providing the maintenance and upkeep of the county roads and infrastructure at a high level. There are still several improvements to the infrastructure that I would like to accomplish.
I am running for a 4th term because I feel that I have served the people of Brown Count very well and would like to serve another term as your commissioner. I respectfully ask for your vote in the upcoming election.
