Deborah Kathleen Smith “Debbie”, age 65 passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2023 at her home. Her family will host a visitation on Friday, November 10th from 6 to 8 PM at Heartland Funeral Home in Early. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 11th at 2 PM in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Rock Church Cemetery in Blanket.
Debbie was born on Tuesday, May 6, 1958 in Wichita Falls, Texas to the late James Murphey Robison and Frieda Zaucker Robison. Debbie married Thomas Smith in 1977, and they had one child. She was Catholic in faith and professed her life to Christ as a young adult.
Debbie worked for over 23 years in the Civil Service at Fort Leavenworth Army Installation, achieving a GS11 level. She moved to Blanket, Texas in her 40’s. Debbie nearly finished an RN program at Ranger College, but developed diabetes that did not allow her to finish.
During the time Debbie lived in Blanket, she enjoyed gardening and lived out her love for animals. She had a gift with growing succulents, especially cacti. One of Debbie’s greatest gifts, was her ability to help take care of her parents.
Debbie was very funny and intelligent. She loved to watch tennis. She also loved the Kansas City Chiefs, well before Patrick Mahomms, Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift arrived on scene.
Most of all Debbie was a loving and caring person, always thinking of others first.
Debbie is survived by her son Brian Smith and grandson Tommy James Smith of San Diego, CA; mother Frieda Zaucker Robison of Blanket, TX; brothers, James Markes Robison and Cheryl of Mary Ester, FL and Jeff S. Robison and wife Susan of Austin, TX; nieces, Shelby Robison and Lilah Robison of Mary Ester, FL; nephews, Jared Robison of Austin, TX and Javin Robison of Houston, TX.
Debbie was preceded in death by her father James Murphey Robison in June of 2023.
