The American Southwest Conference office today announced its weekly football awards and Howard Payne University’s Landon McKinney was recognized as the Offensive Player of the Week.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Landon McKinney, QB, Sr., Howard Payne
Howard Payne senior quarterback Landon McKinney (Liberty City, Texas) found Gus Charles in the endzone with just 36 seconds left to give the Yellow Jackets a 31-27 victory over Texas Lutheran. In the game, McKinney was 34 of 45 passing for 450 yards and three TDs, and one interception. McKinney’s three touchdowns broke the HPU record for TD passes in a career, now with 85. The previous HPU record for TD passes in a career was 84 by Scott Lincher (1991-1994). This is the second time this fall McKinney has earned the honor.
