The Brownwood Lions moved up one spot to No. 9 in the Week 8 Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Class 4A Division I state rankings, which were released Monday afternoon.
The Lions (6-1, 1-0) are coming off a 56-7 victory at Big Spring Friday night, their first of four league games as they attempt to repeat as District 2-4A Division I champions.
Brownwood is at home at 7 p.m. Friday against district foe San Angelo Lake View (1-6, 0-1) in the next-to-last home game of the season, as well as the 2023 Homecoming contest.
The rest of this week’s 4A Division I rankings include No. 1 Tyler Chapel Hill (6-0), No. 2 Boerne (5-1), No. 3 Celina (6-0), No. 4 Anna (5-1), No. 5 China Spring (5-2), No. 6 Kilgore (6-1), No. 7 Iowa Colony (6-0), No. 8 Stephenville (4-2) and new addition at No. 10 Needville (7-0).
The Lions remain the only team from Region I in the Class 4A Division I Top 10.
