The Brownwood JV Lions moved to 7-0 overall and 1-0 against District 2-4A Division I foes with a 50-0 victory over Big Spring Thursday night at Gordon Wood Stadium.
Sophomore quarterback Dallas Shumaker completed 6 of 10 passes for 203 yards with four touchdowns and he also rushed for a 4-yard score. Sophomore receiver Grant Gray caught two passes for 102 yards, both touchdowns. Junior running back Kaleb Grabast added a 21-yard scoring reception and rushed for 63 yards, while sophomore receiver Raven Prado scored on a 62-yard catch and run.
Junior running back Case Burnett contributed 86 rushing yards on three carries, including a 52-yard touchdown to start the fourth quarter. Junior running back Jonathan Bush chipped in 32 yards and a touchdown on six carries.
Sophomore kicker Eliuth Valenciano converted 5 of 6 extra point attempts. Sophomore Robbie Robinson scored on a two-point conversion.
The Lions defense forced four punts and a turnover with an interception by sophomore defensive back Aden Smith. The defense also pitched its third shutout of the season.
Sophomore linebackers Robbie Robinson, Brinson Martin, and Elias Munoz led the way with multiple tackles each. Sophomore defensive backs Grant Gray, Durham Brown, and Caven Webster had multiple physical hits. Defensive linemen Treyvon Mitchell, Ben Wilson, Wesley Isquirdeo, and Ian Barrerra all played well up front.
The JV Lions have outscored their first seven opponents of the season, 238-53. The JV Lions will be at San Angelo Lake View next week on Thursday night at 6:30 p.m.

Freshman Lions 42, Big Spring 0
The Brownwood Freshman Lions opened District 2-4A Division I action with a 42-0 victory over Big Spring Thursday night at Gordon Wood Stadium.
The Freshman Lions (3-4, 1-0) scored all six of their touchdowns before halftime as Wyatt Wolf returned the opening kick 80 yards to start the scoring. Quarterback Rory McNeese followed with a 31-yard touchdown run after Wolf stripped the ball away from Big Spring on its first drive. J.J. Lopez then blocked a Big Spring punt and caught a 31-yard touchdown pass from McNeese on fourth-and-5 as Brownwood led 21-0 after one period.
In the second quarter, McNeese scored on a 42-yard keeper, then he threw touchdown passes of 4 yards to KeShaun White and 68 yards to Nick Rodriguez. McNeese also converted all six extra-point attempts.
Defensive standouts included Angel Linan with five tackles; Wolf with three tackles, an interception and a forced fumble; Lopez with four tackles, two sacks, two blocked punts and a tackle for loss; Waylon Harrington with four tackles including two behind the line of scrimmage; and Isaac Gonzales with three tackles, one for loss, one quarterback pressure and two pass break-ups.
The Freshman Lions will visit San Angelo Lake View at 5 p.m. next Thursday.

Llano 28, Combined Team 14
LLANO – The Brownwood Subvarsity Combined Team slipped to 2-5 on the season with a 28-14 road loss to Llano Thursday.
Offensive standouts included Hayden Christensen, who ran for a touchdown and threw another to Noah Grummert. Michael Herrada added a two-point conversion.
Defensively, Kayden Luker, Michael Herrada, and Luke McGinnis led the way in tackles and Gummert broke up a pass.
