The Brownwood Police Department issued the following press release Thursday morning:
On Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at approximately 10:45 a.m. Officers Charles Durning and Jaylen Bocknite were patrolling westbound in the 1800 block of Main Blvd. when they observed a blue sedan traveling eastbound. The vehicle was displaying an expired registration sticker.
Officer Durning began to safely make a U-turn to initiate a traffic stop. While doing this, the sedan sped away at a high rate of speed and fled onto Hackberry St. then onto Waco St., where the driver exited and ran on foot. Officer Durning observed the female driver running on foot along a fence line in the 1500 block of Waco St. Officer Durning ran after the driver, which ultimately prompted her to end her flight and she was detained.
The driver was identified as 20-year-old Gabrianna Salas Voss of May. Voss explained to officers that she ‘took off’ and then ran on foot because she believed she had warrants for her arrest.
At the conclusion of the investigation, Voss was arrested for Evading Arrest/Detention with a Vehicle and Evading Arrest/Detention (on foot).
The passenger, 27-year-old Cody Lee Jordan of May, was also arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
