The Brownwood JV Lions improved to 4-0 on the season with a 30-18 home victory over Glen Rose Thursday night at Gordon Wood Stadium.
Up 7-6 at halftime, the Lions dominated the third period to carry a 23-6 advantage into the fourth quarter.
Sophomore quarterback Dallas Shumaker completed 3 of 6 passes for 28 yards and also rushed for a 47-yard touchdown that closed out the Brownwood scoring. Sophomore quarterback Robbie Robinson added two rushing touchdowns and sophomore kicker Eliuth Valenciano booted 3 of 4 extra points and converted a 30-yard field goal. Also, Caven Webster had a 48-yard touchdown run called back on a false start penalty.
The Lions defense forced two turnovers on the night with a fumble recovery and 12-yard interception return for a touchdown by sophomore defensive back Raven Prado, his fourth touchdowns in two weeks. Sophomore linebackers Robbie Robinson, Brinson Martin, and Elias Munoz led the way with multiple tackles each, while sophomore defensive backs Grant Gray, Durham Brown, and Caven Webster had multiple physical hits. Defensive linemen Treyvon Mitchell, Aiden Driskill, Ben Wilson, Wesley Isquirdeo, Ian Barrerra, and Tyler Beal wrecked havoc up front.
The JV Lions have outscored their first four opponents of the season, 133-24, and will be on the road next Thursday at Waco Connally at 6:30 p.m.

Freshman Lions 34, Glen Rose 8
The Brownwood Freshman Lions evened their record at 2-2 with a 34-8 home triumph over Glen Rose Thursday night.
In the first period, JJ Lopez stripped the Glen Rose running back and recovered a fumble on the second play of the game. Three plays later, the Lions scored on an 8-yard touchdown pass from Rory McNeese to Dylan Current for a 6-0 lead.
Glen Rose returned the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown and took the lead 8-6, but the Lions answered with a 42-yard scoring toss from McNeese to Connor Cornelius, and McNeese added the extra point the put the Lions up for good, 13-8.
Glen Rose’s next possession ended with an 86-yard interception return for a touchdown by Nick Rodriguez, and McNeese booted the extra point for a 20-8 lead.
In the second quarter, the Lions tacked on their final two touchdowns on passes of 5 yards to Wyatt Wolf and 34 yards to Cornelius by McNeese, who also added extra points after both scores.
Defensive standouts included Rodriguez (7 tackles, interception for touchdown), Jacoby Belvin (5 tackles, 2 for loss), Wolf (4 tackles), Julio Fletes (2 tackles for loss, 1 fumble recovery) Lopez (1 tackle, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery), and Waylon Harrington (1 forced fumble, 1 sack).

Jim Ned 48, Combined Team 18
The Brownwood Subvarsity Combined Team slipped to 2-2 for the season with a 48-18 loss at Jim Ned Thursday night.
Hayden Christiansen threw a pair of touchdown passes – one to Tru Pesina and one to Noah Grummert. Grummert also returned a kick for a Brownwood touchdown.
Defensively, Jacob Green recorded two tackles behind the line of scrimmage.
