Law Enforcement Blotter 3/20: Investigation of Stolen Vehicle Leads to Drug Related Arrest

LECSmEarly Police Officer Stephanie Brown was investigating a reported stolen vehicle incident at approximately 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 18th which led to the arrest of an Early woman on drug related charges, according to EPD Chief David Mercer.

The suspect vehicle was located and stopped in the 500 block of Early Blvd. According to Mercer, the female driver, identified as Amber Nicole Head, was found to have a suspended driver’s license and was arrested for driving while license invalid.  While inventorying the vehicle, Officer Brown located some drug paraphernalia, the report states.  Officer Brown questioned Head further about the drugs and it was learned that there were more drugs at a residence, according to Mercer.

Officers went to the residence in the 200 block of Hillcrest Drive and located methamphetamine and paraphernalia, according to Mercer’s report.  Head was additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance.  The stolen vehicle investigation is ongoing, the report states.

Tuesday, March 18

*6:26 PM – Brown county Sheriff’s Deputy Kelly Mash was dispatched to the area of FM 585 and Country Road 146 regarding the burglary of a vehicle.  According to the report, the complainant stated that she had arrived home and met a female relative and another female at her residence; however, when they got into a verbal argument, the two females left her home on foot.  After the two left, the complainant realized that they had taken a backpack, which contained her mini laptop (valued at $75), her boyfriend’s tattoo gun (valued at $80), and a Nintendo DS game (valued at $10), the report states.  The complainant wished to pursue charges for the burglary of a vehicle, according to the report.

Wednesday, March 19

*7:41 AM – Brownwood Police met a complainant at the law enforcement center regarding harassment.  According to the report, the complainant stated that a known subject was following her around town.

*11:42 AM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1600 block of 9th Street regarding a runaway juvenile.  According to the report, the caller’s 15-year-old son had run way and had been at an unknown address in Fort Worth since Sunday, March 16th.

*7:54 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 3900 block of Oakdale Drive regarding suspicious activity.  According to the report, the caller stated that someone had removed all the storm windows from his house and placed them into his shed.  Some of the windows had been broken, the report states.

*25-year-old Patrick Jennings of Brownwood was arrested on three Midland County warrants related to three counts of indecency with a child.  Jennings is currently being held in the Brown County jail in lieu of bonds totaling $150,000.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 24-year-old Neva Marie Mata of Brownwood on a warrant related to motion to revoke/theft equal or greater than $50 less than $500.

*Brownwood Police arrested 24-year-old Kathie Lee Ann Vasquez of Brady on a warrant related to failure to appear/criminal mischief equal or greater than $50 less than $500.

Thursday, March 20

*3:30 AM – Early Police Officer Jose Contreras made a traffic stop in the 100 block of Garmon Drive.  The driver, identified as Justin Barnhill of Brownwood was accompanied by two 16-year-old juveniles from Brownwood who were unrelated to Barnhill, the report states.  Further investigation located several items of drug paraphernalia and a small amount of methamphetamine, marijuana, and hydrocodone pills within the vehicle, according to EPD Chief Mercer.  Officers learned that some drugs may have been dumped into a soft drink that was inside the vehicle at the time of the stop, the report states.  Barnhill and the two juveniles were placed under arrest for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.  The investigation is pending lab results of the soft drink and several other items located in the vehicle.

*22-year-old Justin C. Barnhill of Richland Springs was arrested for possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1 less than 1 gram in a drug free zone, possession of a controlled substance penalty group  4 <28G in a drug free zone, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

*Brownwood Police arrested 19-year-old Colby Don Lohse of San Angelo on warrants related to expired driver’s license and failure to appear.

*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 27-year-old Colin Garrett Smith of Brownwood for possession of a controlled substance penalty group 2-A equal or less than 2 ounces.

All arrestees are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Blotter information compiled from local law enforcement reports and jail records.
