ABILENE – The Brownwood Lady Lions secured their first volleyball victory of the season and the Cheyanne Lovelady coaching era over Class 3A Eastland Friday in Bev Ball Classic action.

The Lady Lions also took on Class 5A Abilene Cooper and Class 6A El Paso Eastwood and came up short in both matches as their record stands at 1-4 overall going into Saturdays 10 a.m. bracket play opener.

Among Friday’s standouts for the Brownwood were Aubrie Felux with 21 kills; Hannah Deen with 20 kills, 23 digs, and 2 aces; Miranda Northcutt with 6 blocks; Aniah Hines with 3 blocks; Emma Ringer with 27assists; Icess Hall with 19 assists; Chloe Walls with 12 digs; Molly Oliver with 13 digs and 2 aces; and Jaslin Jones with a pair of aces.

After the conclusion of Saturday tournament action, the Lady Lions will open the home portion of their schedule Tuesday against San Angelo Central.
