Thomas “Tom” Joseph Aulmann, 68, of Brownwood, Texas passed away Thursday, July 13, 2023. The family will announce services at a later time.
Tom was born September 3, 1954 in Des Moines, Iowa to Ralph and Rene Aulmann. Early in Tom’s life, his mother remarried J.W. “Tiger” Hood and Tom loved him like a father. Tom went to school in Des Moines and served in the military after high school before becoming an over the road truck driver. Tom loved the road, something about the open air and a long stretch road he found peace in. Exploring new places and navigating the paths and obstacles as carried along was his peace. Tom met Peggy over 30 years ago and he loved her unconditionally. The two made a combined family and her children loved him as well. Peggy travelled with Tom on the truck for several years and has many fond memories of their travels. When he was home, Tom loved to get the family together. Tom was a pillar for all of those around him. He was wise and loved to give advice and help whenever he could. He loved the grandchildren and would take them on the truck with him for summer rides when they were out of school. He stayed in touch with his brothers back home and was always available to listen or visit with a friend. Family was the most important thing to him and kindness was his signature card.
Tom is survived by his beloved Peggy Ann Miller of Brownwood; sons, Joseph Holt of Brownwood, Michael and Jenifer Haby of Brookesmith, Tex Russell and wife Leann of Brownwood, Thomas Joseph Aulmann Jr. of San Angelo; daughters, Crystal Holland and husband T.J. of Brownwood, Brenda Russell of San Angelo, Leanna Russell of Brownwood, Daisy Aulmann of San Angelo, Jennifer Aulmann of San Angelo; brother, James W. “Jamie” Hood and Christopher M.
