Greenleaf Cemetery has recently acquired a house that will be remodeled for use as an Office and Caretaker Cottage. The house was donated by the City of Brownwood and moved to Greenleaf Cemetery. It came from the downtown area near the upcoming Event Center, part of an effort to make room for parking. According to Greenleaf Cemetery President Steve Harris, the current office building at Greenleaf is in poor condition and has needed to be replaced for some time.
The house has a number of basic structural improvements needed, including a new roof, gutters, porch, paint, railings, ADA ramp, and landscaping, that will be called the Draco Miller Memorial Gardens. In addition to the structural improvements, a plan to remodel the building as an office has been provided by Joe Sheppard Designs.
Greenleaf has received donations for the project from the Beadel Foundation and Jamco Roofing, but more funds are needed. If you are willing to help, please contact Greenleaf at their website www.Greenleafcemetery.org, or their Facebook page: Friends of Greenleaf Cemetery.
