Authorities released the following timeline early in the investigation.
On July 27, 2013, Amber’s 2011 Honda vehicle was found abandoned in Rising Star. Authorities interviewed witnesses and discovered that Michael drove the Honda to Rising Star, parked it and then obtained a ride back to his residence. Authorities obtained search warrants for Michael’s residence, surrounding property and his personal vehicle.
On July 30, 2013, Michael Logan Lowery was arrested in Brown County and charged with the murder of his wife Amber Lowery and then transferred to Comanche County Jail. Amber was reported as a missing person on July 24, 2013, when she failed to show up to meet her brother. Michael stated that he had last seen his wife the night of July 23, 2013, but had not heard from her since.
On July 31, 2013, during the execution of the search warrants, human remains were located on the property surrounding Michael’s residence. The remains were collected and were sent to the Forensic Service Unit at the University of North Texas.
Law enforcement confirmed the identity of the remains today.
The Comanche County Sheriff’s Office led the investigation and was assisted by the Texas Rangers, Texas Highway Patrol, Comanche Police Department and DeLeon Police Department.
Lowery’s brother released a statement related to the new information Tuesday:
It is with a heavy heart that as her eldest brother I come before the community and family and friends that have waited since July of 2013 to hear or not hear the words I will put before you now. As of information received by us yesterday it is official that the remains found on the property where this terrible crime took place are those of my beautiful sister Amber. She is missed every single day and we will impatiently wait for justice to be served as a result of acts that took her from her family and friends and all of those that may not have even met her but diligently stood by and shared in the sorrow felt by all. We have no specifics and no other answers at this time other than the DNA results have proven what we have all feared and to an extent assumed. Our family thanks everyone that has felt saddened and grieved over this loss of such a beautiful mother, daughter, sister, friend, relative, co-worker and acquaintance.
