- On Friday, May 5 at 8:54 a.m., Deputy Ricky Herring was dispatched to the front lobby of the Brown County Law Enforcement Center, 1050 W. Commerce. This was in reference to fraud. Upon arrival information was gathered, and a report was taken.
- On Friday, May 5 at approximately 4 p.m. Sgt. Andre Smoot was dispatched to a civil issue regarding a female banging and yelling on complainant’s door. Upon arrival, the suspect left the area but returned a short time later. Marijuana was smelled on the breath of the suspect. When asked, she provided Sgt. Smoot with a marijuana cigarette from a cigarette packet inside of a purse. When attempted to place the suspect under arrest, the suspect resisted and is being charged with Possession of Marijuana and Resist Arrest, Search or Transportation.
- On Saturday, May 6 at 6:35 a.m., Deputy Ricky Herring observed an abandoned vehicle parked on the north shoulder of CR 327 west bound. The vehicle was red tagged. On May 7, 2023, at 3:33 p.m., Deputy Herring observed the vehicle had not been removed. The vehicle was towed, and a report was taken for Abandoned Vehicle, due to being a traffic hazard.
- On Sunday, May 7, Deputy Toby Mathis responded to 9000 block of Wildwood Trails. This was for a report of a possible domestic or other assault. The calling party reported a female arrived at her residence claiming someone was trying to harm her. The female identified her ex-boyfriend as the suspect attempting to harm her. Information was gathered, and a report was made.
- On Sunday, May 7, Deputy Toby Mathis responded to CR 411, May. This was for a report of a deceased person. Calling parties reported an elderly female had difficulty breathing prior to being pronounced deceased on scene by medical personal. Information was gathered for a report.
- On Sunday, May 7, at approximately 2 p.m. Sgt. Andre Smoot responded to a domestic disturbance call located at Ave E in Blanket. Once on scene, an investigation was completed, a suspect was placed under arrest for Assault Family Violence, which is a Class A Misdemeanor.
- On Sunday, May 7, at approximately 10 p.m., Sgt. Andre Smoot conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with a defective 3rd brake lamp. The driver was identified and he was warned of the violation. While Sgt. Smoot spoke with the driver, he could smell marijuana coming from the vehicle. The driver pulled out a cigarette package from his pocket, which contained .08 ounces of marijuana. A search of the vehicle was conducted, and a metal smoking pipe was discovered. Also discovered in the driver’s wallet was .07 grams of cocaine with packaging. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to the Brown County Jail without incident.
- On Sunday, May 7, Deputy Toby Mathis observed a Chevy passenger vehicle traveling south bound on Hwy 279 with an obscured license plate. The driver was placed in custody for warrants. A consent search of the vehicle was done, and narcotics were located in the vehicle. The driver is also charged with Tampering with Evidence, Possession of Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana, and Terroristic Threat against a Peace Officer. An arrest report was made.
- On Monday, May 8, Deputy John Geis was dispatched to Bally Shannon Dr., Brownwood. This was for a domestic disturbance. Deputy Geis came into contact with a male, who claimed his girlfriend assaulted him. The male claimed the girlfriend had kicked him 10-12 times, causing him pain. Information as gathered, the female was arrested for Assault Causing Bodily Injury Family Violence, and a report was made.
- On Monday, May 8 at about 8:53 a.m., Deputy Chris Williamson was dispatched to a theft call located at Tamarack Dr., May. A victim stated he had over $2,700 stolen out of a lock box inside his residence. Information was gathered, and a report was made.
- On Monday, May 8, at approximately 11:58 a.m. Deputy Francisco Valencia was dispatched to the Brown County Law Enforcement Center to speak with a walk-in regarding a missing person out of May. The subject had been missing since Saturday May 6. Information was gathered, and a report was made. The subject was found in Eastland County on May 8, and safely returned home.
- On Monday, May 8, Sgt. Chris Angel responded to Willow Bend Road in reference to a burglary. Sgt. Angel made contact with a complainant at this residence. Sometime between April 20 and May 8 an unknown subject forced entry into the residence and shop without the complainant’s consent and stole several items. A report was taken, and an investigation is underway.
- On Tuesday, May 9 at about 8:19 a.m., Deputy Chris Williamson was dispatched to a theft call located at Belle Plain St., Brownwood. Two people stated a customer cashed and altered a check. Information was gathered, and a report was made.
- On Tuesday, May 9, at approximately 12:45 p.m., Deputy Francisco Valencia was dispatched to the Brown County Law Enforcement Center. This was to speak with a walk-in regarding theft of a motor vehicle. After speaking with the complaint, it was discovered this same vehicle was involved in an accident in the Wal-Mart parking lot the night before. The driver of the vehicle and was unauthorized to be using it. Information was gathered, and a report was made.
- On Tuesday, May 9 at about 5:46 p.m., Deputy Byron Langley arrived at FM 2632 in Brownwood. This was in regard to theft. Deputy Langley spoke to a victim who stated he believes a suspect may have taken a welder and cutting torch.
- On Tuesday, May 9, at 6:56 p.m., Sgt Jayson Bastardo was dispatched to CR 346. This was in regard to an aggressive dog in the area. The caller advised dispatch two aggressive dogs had chased his children. Upon arrival, contact was made with the caller, who stated two black lab mix dogs aggressively chased his children and was growling at them. After speaking with the caller, Sgt. Bastardo was able to identify the owner of the two dogs, who was issued a Dangerous Dog form for both dogs. A report was taken.
