Brownwood High School alum Matt McCrane booted a 24-yard field goal, and the D.C. Defenders scored 28 second-half points en route to a 37-21 home victory over the Seattle Sea Dragons in Sunday’s North Division Championship Game, punching a ticket to the XFL Championship Game.
The Defenders (10-1) will face the Arlington Renegades (5-6) at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 13 at the Alamodome in San Antonio in the XFL final. Arlington upset the Houston Roughnecks, 26-11, Saturday in the South Championship Game.
McCrane has converted 13 of 17 field goals in 11 games with a long of 50 yards. McCrane’s kick Sunday accounted for the first points of the game for D.C., which was tied with Seattle at 9 at halftime before pulling away in the second half.
