Most humans do not have ideas. They have no capacity for ideation. They receive ideas like goldfish receive food, sprinkled in their bowl every day from on high. This is the main purpose of memes and ‘news.’ They exist to disseminate bad ideas. Ideas are boiled and edited down by professional mass-movers, meme-mills, and propagandists. They are masked in humor or anger or emotion or sarcasm, pasted on a picture or image, and then cast out on the NPC waters for consumption and multiplication and replication. Ideas generally come at people not usually from people.
When people say, “I have had an idea,” what they usually mean is “I have formed a thought from the materials and information fed to me by professionals, and it is right on time.”
If we say “ideas have people,” we get closer to the issue, but the people fondest of this interpretation find themselves on the horns of a dilemma. If ideas come at us (us being ‘humans’) then they must come from above us. They are not formed by our peers; they are disseminated by our peers. They are created by entities with agendas.
Buckle up, because this’ll get weird.
The fact that ideas come at us from above is an uncomfortable one, but here we are. The Bible says that man was made “a little lower than the angels,” (specifically in this text it refers to our bodies which are subject to corporeal death.) In the scriptures, ideas come down, but just because an idea comes from outside of us, that doesn’t make it good. Some bad angels were cast to earth, and their ideas with them, and these ideas (witty inventions) man always conceives of as ‘progress.’ “Progressivism” in all its forms, political or otherwise, is the belief that new ideas – from wherever they come – are always better than the old ideas.
In reality, many ideas that seem (at first) to be progressive and to elevate or advance man, generally, in time, tend to destroy him. All of history shows the tendency for humans to incline toward ever larger state control. This idea seems progressive, despite what we know of the inevitable outcome of these systems. Reality exposes the deception, which is why reality is the true target. For this reason, reality is now under fire by ideas that are no longer masked or disguised. They are patently evil, yet men think they are good ideas. If ideas are seeded from above, then you can see that most ideas are designed to destroy and not to elevate. (I am not intending this to be a theological treatise, I am merely trying to spark some contrarian thinking and using the most adhered to social/intellectual/worldview system to explain.)
The point is that there is a reason the Bible says that ‘unto the angels He hath NOT put into subjection the world to come.’ (I don’t know who needs to hear this, but if you adhere to that system – which I do – people don’t become angels when they die. They don’t ‘receive their wings.’ Your granny didn’t become an angel. In Matthew where it says that the elect shall be ‘like the angels’ it is speaking about them not marrying. Angels are another species and they do not hold authority in the world to come.)
Now, if I let it (and I won’t) this could get very theological, and I will resist that somewhat since I do that on my online ministry page and not here, but in the Bible, the “heart” is not the organ that pumps blood through your body. Biblically, the heart is the affections – the proclivity and the conceptions – often in the scripture it is one with the ‘mind’ which includes the thoughts. They are different operations of the same organ. The thought entering the heart is saying that it enters from outside and is birthed in the mind. “For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled.” The reins of the heart are said to be in the hands of the Lord, and it is the Lord or angels (at his permission) who put it into the hearts of men to do thus and such.
It is very uncomfortable for Christians to learn that God gives men ideas, and that He even lets bad angels give bad ideas to people in order to fulfill His will. They hide information like this in Bibles so Christians won’t find it.
So, in our worldview, the thoughts – which are ideas – are put in us and upon us, and there are some few men through which ideas are initiated (some good and some evil,) but most people have no capacity for ideation and exist simply as vessels of replication and for the spreading cancerous ideas. Angelic excrement.
As time moves forward, and this is self-evident, ideas become more obviously and patently evil, but the wicked have no ability to see them as evil. They are taught from birth that new ideas are good, and that “progress” means winning. When we all have timeshares on Mars and the elite control our every action and thought and you can get your dinner of organic, gluten-free bug-paste that tastes like gelato and sunshine so long as you don’t tap on the glass, then we’ll all be happy.
Things are not as innocent as they seem. As it is written, “It shall also come to pass, that at the same time shall things come into thy mind, and thou shalt think an evil thought.” And again, “Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.”
Not everyone reading this adheres to this worldview, but the evidence of the progression/regression of human life is undeniable. It is interesting, then, that John Bunyan’s masterpiece The Pilgrim’s Progress portrayed a different definition of progress than what we see today.
Something to think about.
*My next column, if I am permitted to write it, might be filled with more jocularity and tomfoolery, but we’ll see.
