The Brownwood Police Department issued the following press release Tuesday afternoon:
On Sunday, April 23, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Officer Scott Ferguson conducted a traffic stop in the 1500 block of Avenue E for a minor traffic violation.
When Ferguson contacted the driver of the vehicle, the driver identified himself as Lane Harris with a date of birth in 1998. Communications Division officers were unable to locate an identification card with the information provided but eventually located the identity for 23-year-old Alexander James Harris of Stephenville. A communications check revealed. Harris to have a warrant for his arrest for Tampering with Evidence. Harris’ corrected identity was confirmed, and he was arrested for the warrant.
An inventory of Harris’ vehicle revealed a Ziploc baggie containing a substance believed to be Methamphetamine. This substance would later be weighed and show a measure of 9.5 grams.
Harris was arrested and charged with Failure to Identify-Fugitive, Possession of a Controlled Substance PG1, and the warrant.

On Thursday, April 20, 2023, at approximately 8:30 p.m. officer Collin Davis was dispatched to a residence in the 1600 block of Avenue G regarding a report of a Disorderly subject at the home.
Upon arrival, Davis met with an adult male complainant who explained the offense committed. The complainant stated that he was in his backyard working on an ATV when 35-year-old Brian Alan Watson-Stuart of Brownwood came into the yard from the back. Watson approached the complainant in an aggressive, angry manner and began yelling at the complainant and challenging him to a fight. Also, as Watson walked toward the complainant, he pulled a pistol from a holster on his hip and threatened to kill the complainant. No physical altercation occurred and Watson eventually left the scene.
The complainant loaded a video to his cell phone and showed the recording to Davis which corroborated the information provided. Davis completed a report for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and forward his report to the Criminal Investigations Division of the Brownwood Police Department. A warrant was applied for and obtained against Watson for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
On Sunday, April 23 at approximately 11:50 a.m., Watson was located at his home and arrested for the warrant without incident.
