The Brownwood Fire Department recently responded to a pair of weekend structure fires at 1702 Avenue C and 4508 Fourth Street.
On Sunday, the BFD was dispatched at 9:05 p.m. to 4508 Fourth and upon arrival the fire was contained to an outdoor pavilion area and a room containing the pool pump and equipment. The surrounding privacy fence was also burned. The fire was extinguished using a preconnected hose line. Overhaul was completed on the structure. Fire cause is under investigation.
Chief 92, Truck 9, Rescue 9, and Engine 92 responded and assisting agencies included the Early Fire Department, Lifeguard Ambulance, Brownwood Police Department, and Brownwood Utilities.
The fire was under control in 10 minutes and firefighters were on the scene for 65 minutes.
At 10:56 p.m. Saturday, the Brownwood Fire Department was dispatched to 1702 Avenue C and upon arrival the fire was underneath the home and was being contained by residents using a garden hose. The fire was completely extinguished using a preconnected hose line by the Fire Department. Salvage and overhaul was preformed to confirm that there was no fire extension. Investigation revealed fire was caused by improperly discarded smoking materials. Red Cross was contacted to provide aid to the fire victims. All fire department units to service on the scene.

The fire was under control in 15 minutes and firefighters were on the scene for one hour and 48 minutes.
