The Brownwood Police Department issued the following press release Monday afternoon
On Saturday, April 15, 2023, at approximately 8:45 a.m., the Brownwood Law Enforcement Center received information from the Cross Plains Police Department that a known suspect had stolen a vehicle and was possibly traveling toward Brownwood. Information continued to be called in by witnesses and the initial caller of 34-year-old Justin Scott Parker’s possible location.
It was learned that Parker was being arrested the previous night by Callahan County Sheriff’s Office deputies for a warrant for Burglary of a Building. Once arrested, Parker was able to escape from their custody and steal a brown pickup.
At approximately 12:20 p.m., officers located the stolen pickup in a parking lot in the 600 block of W. Commerce. Officers went into the area and began looking for the suspect. While searching the area, Officer Jessica Risdon located Parker hiding underneath a flatbed trailer. Parker was detained and eventually positively identified prior to transport.
The stolen pickup was inventoried and a set of handcuffs belonging to the Callahan County Sheriff’s Office was located.
During the investigation/arrest, Parker refused to answer the officers’ questions and began cursing them and, in one instance, spat at an officer.
The warrant out of Callahan County for Burglary of a Building was confirmed. Additionally, Parker was arrested for Failure to Identify-Fugitive, Assault on a Public Servant, Resisting Arrest/Transport, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. A warrant for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle will be sought at a later time by Callahan County.
