COMANCHE – The Texas Girls Coaches Association Class 3A No. 11 Early Lady Horns finished the first half of District 8 action unscathed and alone in first place thanks to Tuesday’s 6-3 road triumph over the Comanche Maidens.
The Lady Horns (20-3-2, 7-0) led 1-0 after one inning and 2-1 through three, but Comanche grabbed a 3-2 advantage after four frames. Early responded with four runs in the top of fifth inning to regain the edge and kept the Maidens at bay the rest of the contest.
Early chalked up eight hits – three by Marissa Reedy, two from Stoney Laughlin and one apiece by Grace LaRue, Jordan Simmons, and Teagan Lopez. Lopez tripled and drove in two, Simmons doubled and plated a pair, and Laughlin also doubled once and knocked in a run to account for the RBIs.
In the circle, Lopez went the distance and surrendered one earned run on four hits with six strikeouts to tally the victory.
