Brown County Sheriff’s Report: March 20

  • On Thursday, March 16, Deputy John Geis was dispatched to handle a scam over the phone. The caller got scammed out of $655 over Facebook. This was by an account for someone who claimed to be renting property in this area. Information was gathered, and a report was made.
  • On Thursday, March 16, Lt. Pete Bastardo spoke with a complainant in regard to being assaulted at the Brownwood Country Club, located at CR 225. The complainant stated the assault took place on Tuesday, March 14. The complainant lives in Ft. Worth and was advised he needed to contact this agency to file a report. The complainant did not know the name of the person who assaulted him.
  • On Thursday, March 16, Deputy Toby Mathis was on a motorist assist call on Hwy 279. After speaking with the driver, a narcotics investigation was conducted. The driver was placed in custody for Possession of Controlled Substance, and a report was made.
  • On Friday, March 17 at about 2:47 a.m., Deputy Chris Williamson was dispatched to a deceased person located at Hendrick Medical Center Brownwood, Crockett Dr., Brownwood. Information was gathered, and a report was made.
  • On Friday, March 17, Deputy Toby Mathis responded to CR 215 for a report of burglary. Deputy Mathis spoke with the property owners about the incident. It was determined a burglary did not occur, but a report for criminal mischief and criminal trespass was made.
  • On Saturday, March 18, Deputy John Geis was dispatched to handle a scam that occurred. A complainant claimed the scammers were pretending to be a tech support company and stole $1,500, using Gift Cards. Information was gathered, and a report was made.
  • On Sunday, March 19, Deputy Joe Thomas was dispatched to a report of trespassing. The complainant advised a neighbor was coming onto his property without permission. After further investigation, a Criminal Trespass Warning was issued. A report was made.
