KINGSLAND – The Brownwood Lions placed sixth as a team at the Class 4A boys golf state preview tournament, as the two-day, 36-hole event concluded Saturday at Legends Golf Course.
The Lions posted a two-day total of 664 with team rounds of 325 and 339. Brownwood trailed only Canyon Randall (608), Wimberley (629), Bridgeport (632), Andrews (645), and Canyon (645) – but four of those teams reside in Region I along with the Lions. The top three teams from each region will compete at the state tournament May 15-16.
Sir Bubba Jones led the Lions with a 10th-place effort of 156 following rounds of 79 and 77; Hudson Reagan came in 19th place with a 163 after rounds of 82 and 81; Caleb Modawell finished in 23rd place with a 166 following rounds of 78 and 88; Peyton Sharp was 33rd with a 171 after rounds of 85 and 86; Slayde Espinoza turned in a 48th-place performance of 180 with rounds of 87 and 93; and Cobe Walker was 51st with a score of 183 after rounds of 86 and 97.
The Lions are back in action Monday at the District 6-4A preview tournament at Diamondback Golf Course in Abilene.
