STEPHENVILLE – The Brownwood Lions were dealt their first District 6-4A baseball defeat Thursday night, falling to the rival Stephenville Yellow Jackets, 8-2.
The Lions (13-5, 2-1) scored first in the top of the first inning, but gave up four runs in the bottom half and three more in the second inning. Brownwood tacked on one more run in the third, as did Stephenville,
Brownwood was limited to two hits by Stephenville’s Luke Heller and Wacey Dill, as Case Markham and Cole Miller both singled. Owen Huntsinger was credited with the Lions’ lone RBI.
Luke Gray and David Turner saw action on the mound for the Lions, allowing a combined seven earned runs on eight hits with three strikeouts and six walks. Brownwood’s defense also committed a pair of errors.
The Lions are off until March 24 when they venture to Glen Rose.
