DUBLIN – The Bangs Dragons improved to 7-2-2 on the season with a 14-6 road triumph over the Dublin Lions Tuesday night.
The Dragons jumped out to a 4-0 lead after half an inning and carried a 4-2 advantage to the fifth inning, where each team scored three runs. Leading 7-5, Bangs scored four more runs in the sixth inning and three in the seventh to pull away.
Bangs finished with 11 hits, drew six walks and was aided by six Dublin errors.
Offensive standouts included Hunter Newton with three hits – including a double – and five RBIs while Skylar Minshew contributed three hits and drove in one. Ethan Ethridge recorded a pair of hits and two RBIs, Guy Powell doubled and drove in one, and Brayden Fields and Weston Jundt both tacked on singles.
On the mound, Zack Ferguson picked up the win as he allowed five runs – two earned – on four hits with six strikeouts in 4.1 innings. Minshew worked the last 2.2 innings and surrendered one with two strikeouts and kept Dublin off the scoreboard.
The Dragons are back in action Thursday and Friday at the Jim Ned tournament.
