The Brownwood Lions finished first as a team and Hudson Reagan was the top individual as the two-day, 36-hole Abilene Invitational golf tournament, hosted by The Hideout, concluded Saturday.
The Lions generated a 629 team total following rounds of 316 Friday and 313 Saturday. Brownwood finished 51 strokes better than runner-up Odessa Permian (680) and 52 better than third-place Bowie (681).
Reagan fired rounds of 76 and 72 for a first-place 148, while Sir Bubba Jones came in second – after winning a scorecard playoff – with a 156 as he posted an opening 80 and closing 76. Bowie’s Cy Egenbacher placed third with his 156.
Also competing for the Lions were Caleb Modawell with scores of 78 and 83 for a 161; Cobe Walker with an 82 and an 85 for a 167; and Slayde Espinoza with a 172 following rounds of 90 and 82.
Competing as a medalist from Brownwood was Peyton Sharp, who finished with a 170 after rounds of 80 and 90.
The Lions are back in action March 17-18 at the State Preview in Kingsland at Legends Golf Course.
