Love ‘em or hate ‘em we are going to fix them! This is the goal of TNR Brownwood.
On Thursday, January 19 friends gathered at the Brownwood Art Association to enjoy an evening of fine wine, food, art and auction. The event was hosted by TNR Brownwood, to raise funds for it’s Trap Neuter Release program for community (feral) cats of Brownwood. TNR is nationally known as the humane way to control cat population by spay/neuter of cat colonies.
Locally, this has been a one woman program, with Tami Rogers carrying 20- 30 cats every 2nd “Feral Friday” to the low cost spay/neuter TCAP in Weatherford. Over the last few years she has been responsible for having over 2,000 cats “fixed”. This has prevented thousands of cat litters being produced, but there is still so much to do!
The generosity of donations to the program will fund much needed cat population control. In 2022 well over 300 cats entered our already overcrowded shelter. Not accounted for are the overwhelming litters of kittens born feral or left by a human to fend for themselves.
TNR will launch a community cat, SNIP program and is welcoming public information to help map out colonies.
