Kelly Crenshaw with The Salvation Army announced Wednesday morning on KOXE that Brown County raised more than $63,000 during the Red Kettle Campaign over the holiday season.
“We live in a fantastic community, the most giving bunch of people I’ve been around,” Crenshaw said. “Brown County, pat yourself on the back.”
The money raised during 2022 was a significant increase over 2021, and the funds will be used locally.
“This helps put food on plates, pays bills and gets us caught up, we’re a little behind from last year with the damages,” Crenshaw said. “Hopefully this will allow us to be able to help in different ways that we haven’t been able to recently.”
The Salvation Army in Brownwood reopened in May 2022 after the February 2021 ice storm resulted in damaged property and equipment that required replacing.
The Salvation Army Service Center is located at 403 Lakeway Drive in Brownwood
