Christopher001Memorial services for Laura Lynn George Christopher of Brownwood will be held at 5:00 PM on Monday, Feb. 1, 2010  at Coggin Avenue Baptist Church with Tim Skaggs and Dallas Huston officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 today at Davis-Morris Funeral Home.

Laura died peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010, with her three sons by her side following a battle with cancer.

Laura was born in Appleton, WI on March 21, 1954 to Tom and Betty George.  She graduated from Brownwood High School in 1972 and from Texas Tech University in 1976 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.  She was an accounting clerk in Unit I at the Ron Jackson State Juvenile Correctional Complex.

Her favorite pastimes were watching her three sons play various sports for the Brownwood Lions.  She prided herself on being present for every game.  She loved to spoil her daughter in law who quickly became her daughter.  Laura also loved spending time with her family, shopping, and playing Bunko with her girlfriends.  Her latest role was as “Grammie” to her two month old grandson Weston, which brought her great joy.  She will be remembered as a loving, caring, tough, Christian woman with an amazing work ethic and a smile always on her face.

She is survived by her sons Chad Evans and wife Jessie of Comanche, Chris Evans of Brownwood, and Payton Christopher of Brownwood, her grandson Weston Evans of Comanche, her parents, Tom and Betty George of Brownwood, three brothers, Tommy George and wife Ann of Hewitt, Gary George and wife Vicki of Brownwood, and Terry George and wife Donna of Brownwood, a nephew and several nieces.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, Lighthouse Hospice, or Coggin Ave. Baptist Church.
