BRADY – The Brownwood Lions pushed their win streak to four games with two wins to kick off Brady tournament action Thursday morning.
In the first of five weekend outings, the Lions started with a 71-50 victory over Llano.
Brownwood trailed 14-10 after one quarter but grabbed a 32-26 halftime advantage that grew to 55-35 by the end of the third period.
Hayden Proffitt paced the Lions with 16 points trailed by Tristan Salinas with 13, Trent Loftin with 12, Luke Gray with nine, Hayden Noe with eight, Morsello Hooker with five, and Ryder Lancaster with three points.
Brownwood followed with a 71-63 triumph over Grape Creek.
After one quarter, the Lions were behind 15-14 but surged in front 31-29 at halftime and carried a 47-45 lead into the final period.
Leading the charge offensively were Gray with 24 points, Salinas with 14, Hooker with 10, Noe with eight, Loftin with five, Lancaster and Jason Jackson with four apiece, and Proffitt with one point.
The Lions (6-3) will face Eldorado at 11 a.m. Friday in their lone game of the day, then wrap up tournament play Saturday against Rocksprings at 3:30 p.m. and host Brady at 6:30 p.m. The Bulldogs dealt a short-handed Brownwood squad a 64-62 defeat in the second outing of the season.
