LORENA – The Brownwood Lady Lions dropped their first two games at the Lorena tournament Thursday, falling to Killeen Ellison, 58-31, and host Lorena, 50-28.
Against Ellison, the Lady Lions trailed 12-6 after one quarter, pulled even at 17 at halftime, and fell behind 32-22 after three periods.
Brownwood shot 19 percent (7 of 37) from the field, 22 percent (4 of 18) from the three-point arc, and 76 percent (13 of 17) at the free throw line.
Mady Pyle led with eight points trailed by Kassidy Wooten and Kimber Green with six apiece, Sidney Windham with four, Talasia Green and Olivia Ringer with two each, and Icess Hall and Hannah Deen with one point apiece.
Versus Lorena, Brownwood knocked down 21 percent (10 of 47) of its shots, 10 percent (2 of 19) of its treys, and 54 percent of its free throws.
Brownwood trailed 17-6 after one quarter, 23-12 at halftime, and 41-16 going to the fourth quarter.
Green’s nine points were a team-best followed by seven from Hall, four from Wooten, three from Miranda Northcutt, two each from Windham and Deen, and one from Green.
The Lady Lions (4-8) are back in tournament action at 9 a.m. Friday against Belton.
