The Brownwood Police Department issued the following press release Monday morning:
On Friday, November 26, 2022, at approximately 12:15 a.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the area of Hall St. and Gifford St. regarding a report of a domestic disturbance.
When officers arrived, they located 27-year-old Gilberto Ramirez Jr. who was standing under a carport at a residence. Ramirez appeared heavily intoxicated and stated to officers as they walked up to, “take him to jail.”
During the investigation, it was learned that Ramirez argued with his father at the residence about him driving recklessly in the area. Ramirez then attacked him by punching him about the head and upper body after his father attempted to take vehicle keys away from him. The victim sustained obvious lacerations to his face and swelling which appeared to require medical attention.
Ramirez was arrested for Assault/Causing Bodily Injury and transported to the Brown County Jail. When they arrived at the jail, Ramirez argued with the officer and attempted to fight him even though he was handcuffed. Given his combative nature, he was further charged with Resisting
