The deadline for purchasing wreaths to be placed at veterans’ graves buried at Greenleaf Cemetery has been extended to include Giving Tuesday, November 29.

The cutoff date is the same for both online and mailed orders – Tuesday, Nov. 29. Online orders must be placed before 10:59 pm on the cutoff date. Checks must be received by Nov. 29.

If purchasing with a check, make check payable to WW Chandler DRT, and mail to Nancy Lowry, PO Box 272, Bangs, TX, 76823. To purchase electronically, go to www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/TX1050P.

The Greenleaf Cemetery Wreaths Across America project is sponsored by Brownwood’s Welcome W. Chandler chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. Their goal is to honor with a wreath each of the 2,000 veterans buried at the cemetery. The wreath-laying ceremony will be Saturday, Dec. 17, at 10 a.m. at Greenleaf Cemetery. The public is invited and encouraged to attend the free event and experience the emotional task of placing a wreath at a soldier’s grave. Proceeds will benefit the upkeep of the cemetery.

For more information call Mary Lee Shelton at 575-644-5121.
