Carol Ann Blackerby, age 73, of Brownwood passed away on Friday, October 14, 2002, at a local nursing facility.

A Celebration of Life for Carol will be held at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, October 30, 2022, at Austin Avenue Church of Christ Family Life Center with J. Tom Washburn officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.

Carol was born on November 27,1948, to John Blackerby and Violet Barnes-Brown in Fort Worth. After years of living in Texas, she moved to New Mexico to live with and care for her mother. Carol retired from the City Building and Zoning Department in Farmington, New Mexico at 61 so she could care for her ailing mother fulltime. In 2007, she and her mother relocated to Brownwood. In 2014, Carol’s sister, Donna, moved in with her and they lived together with their dog, Toby.

She was an accomplished oil painter, loved gardening, and crafts of all kinds. Carol was an active member of Austin Avenue Church of Christ.

Carol is survived by her son, Daniel R. Rossi; a brother, Ron Robert Brown and wife Jackie of Connecticut; a sister, Donna Lee Lawrence of Brownwood; her nephews, Ryan W. Brown and Casey R. Brown; her nieces, Danielle E. Dalpaz and Andrea M. Brown; and many great nieces and nephews who she loved.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Blackerby and mother, Violet Barnes-Brown.

Memorial contributions may be made to Cherokee Home for Children, P.O. Box 295 Cherokee, Texas 76832.

Online condolences for the family are welcome at www.blaylockfuneralhome.com.
