The Tigers (5-0) finished with 338 yards of total offense – 194 rushing and 144 passing – against SFJC (1-5).
Damian Salinas rushed for 141 yards and two touchdowns, Braden Steele chipped in 45 yards on the ground, Luke McKenzie tacked on a 5-yard touchdown run, and Landon Cheatham carried once for 3 yards.
Through the air, Steele connected on 5 of 6 passes for 125 yards with three touchdowns, while McKenzie hurled a 19-yard scoring toss.
Bryson Guerrero led the receiving corps with two touchdown catches totaling 56 yards, Ben Harrell hauled in a 40-yard scoring reception, Salinas made a 20-yard catch, Alexis Mejia grabbed a 19-yard touchdown pass and McKenzie finished with one catch for 9 yards.
On the defensive end, standouts were Salinas (8 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, and a fumble recovery), Steele (6 tackles and 1 tackle for loss), Guerrero (4 tackles and a pass defended), Harrell (3 tackles, a pass defended, and a fumble caused), Cheatham (3 tackles and a pass defended), Kross Kenyon (1 tackle and a tackle for loss), and Wyatt Hardy (1 tackle and a tackle for loss).
Next week, the Tigers host Evant (0-5) – which is coming off a 68-22 loss to Blanket – in District 14-A Division I opener for both teams.

EVANT – The Blanket Tigers collected their fifth consecutive victory Friday night as they kept the Evant Elks winless, 68-22.
Blanket (5-1) generated 378 yards of total offense – 306 on the ground and 72 through the air.
Levi Vazquez rushed for 179 yards and four touchdowns, Brayden Day chipped in 78 yards and a score, Kannon Kensing tacked on 28 yards and a touchdown and Brandon Larance finished with 21 yards with a trip to the end zone.
Through the air, Mason Beck connected on 4 of 6 passes for 72 yards and a pair of touchdown strikes to Isaac Smith, which covered 50 and 11 yards. Aydan Wheeler added a 12-yard reception.
Defensively, Kensing recorded eight tackles with a pair of fumble recoveries followed by Vazquez with seven tackles and a fumble recovery, Smith with six tackles and two safeties, Day with five tackles and a fumble recovery, Wheeler with five tackles, and Larance and Beck with two tackles apiece.
Next week, Blanket enjoys its bye before kicking off District 15-A Division II action at home against winless Gustine (0-6), which fell to Oglesby, 64-14, Friday night.

Zephyr 45, Brookesmith 0
BROOKESMITH – The Zephyr Bulldogs secured a fifth consecutive victory and prevented the Brookesmith Mustangs from attaining their initial win of the season in a 45-0 decision Friday night.
The Bulldogs surrendered just 37 yards of total offense and forced three turnovers in posting their third shutout and second in as many weeks.
Offensively, Zephyr churned out 234 yards, with 210 coming on the ground.
Jayden Millican rushed for 141 yards and six touchdowns, while Eathan Gowin chipped in 48 yards and a score. Tripp Ballard and Karsen Floyd contributed 15 and 13 yards on the ground, respectively.
Through the air, Bransen Bumguardner was 1 of 2 for 24 yards with the lone completion to Floyd.
Defensively for the Bulldogs, Millican led the way with 10 tackles followed by seven from Ballard, six from Floyd and five each from Gowin and Waggoner Shelton. Floyd picked off a pass while Ballard and Johnny Paul Evans-Rollins recovered fumbles.

Coleman 49, San Saba 0
SAN SABA – The Coleman Bluecats, ranked No. 6 in Class 2A Division I by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football this week, remained undefeated in District 5 action by posting their second straight shutout, 49-0 over the San Saba Armadillos Friday night.
Coleman (5-1, 2-0) manufactured 356 yards of total offense – 240 rushing and 116 passing – with no turnovers, while limiting San Saba (4-2, 0-2) to just 70 yards, with 69 of those coming on the ground, with one takeaway.
Ryland Gentry rushed for 90 yards and two touchdowns to spark Coleman’s ground game followed by Brent Bouldin with 67 yards and a score, Jadin Jackson with 42 yards, Blaine Bouldin with 30 yards, and Dayden Hunter with 13 yards.
Through the air, Jackson was 6 of 9 for 116 yards with four scoring tosses. Braxton Smith finished with two scoring receptions of 38 and 39 yards, Hunter Lackey hauled in a 13-yard touchdown reception and Keaton Beets pulled down a 12-yard touchdown catch. Hagen Cavanaugh also finished with two grabs for 14 yards.
For San Saba, Ethan Gonzales rushed for 44 yards, Zuri Herrera added 16 and quarterback Lance Taylor finished with 9, while also completing 1 of 5 passes to Levi Glover for a 1-yard gain.
Next week, Coleman hosts undefeated, state-ranked Tolar (5-0, 1-0), fresh off a 56-7 win over Hamilton, in a game that could determine the 5-2A Division I champion. Meanwhile, San Saba will attempt to secure its first district win at De Leon (4-2, 1-1), which downed Goldthwaite, 44-19, Friday night.

Rising Star 54, Woodson 6
WOODSON – The Rising Star Wildcats moved to 5-1 on the season with a 54-6 victory over the Woodson Cowboys Friday night.
Rising Star produced 285 total yards – 195 passing and 90 rushing – against the Woodson (1-5) defense.
Jake Bell completed 3 of 5 passes for 124 yards – all touchdowns – while Dathon Morris was 2 of 2 for 71 yards and another scoring toss. Leading receivers were Blake Wilson with three grabs for 131 yards – all touchdowns – while Morris hauled in a 47-yard scoring reception and Dakota Higgins contributed a 17-yard reception.
Higgins also returned a kick 78 yards for a Wildcat touchdown.
On the ground, Bell rushed for a 38-yard touchdown, Wilson finished with 30 yards and a trip to the end zone and Morris added 26 yards and a score.
Defensively, Higgins led the way with eight tackles and three for loss followed by Bell with five tackles, one for loss and two interceptions; Morris, Wilson and Anthony Pollard with five tackles as well; Tristan Jackson with three and a fumble recovery; and Brayden Cook with a pair of takedowns.
Next week, Rising Star visits Trent (5-1), which is enjoying its best season in years as the Gorillas are coming off a 68-20 victory over Olfen.

De Leon 44, Goldthwaite 19
GOLDTHWAITE – The Goldthwaite Eagles were again denied in their bid for their first victory of the season and Andy Howard coaching era as they dropped a 44-19 decision to District 5-A Division I rival De Leon Friday night.
Goldthwaite (0-6, 0-2) led 7-6 in the first quarter after a 54-yard touchdown run by Cutter Campbell, but De Leon (4-2, 1-1) answered with 26 points in a row to build a 32-7 advantage early in the second half.
The Eagles finished with 263 total yards – 192 rushing and 71 passing – but committed three turnovers. De Leon finished with 378 yards – 295 on the ground and 83 through the air – and did not commit a turnover.
Campbell competed 6 of 13 passes for 71 yards and two scoring tosses and rushed for 131 yards and another score. Carsyn Campbell added 25 yards on the ground while Collin Gardner caught a team-high three receptions for 41 yards and scored once.
Next week, Goldthwaite heads to Bangs (3-2, 1-0), which had its bye Friday night and is in the midst of a three-game win streak, including a 49-21 victory at De Leon in its district opener.
