BLANKET – The Blanket Tigers notched their fourth consecutive victory, earning a 56-0 homecoming triumph over the Moran Bulldogs Friday.
The Tigers (4-1) manufactured 303 yards of total offense with 288 coming on the ground. Meanwhile, Moran (0-5) finished with 73 yards of total offense, including negative-5 yards rushing on 13 carries.
Brayden Day rushed for 161 yards rushing and five touchdowns for Blanket, Levi Vazquez contributed 103 yards rushing and two touchdowns, and Kannon Kensing scored on a 15-yard carry.
Through the air, Gage Jones completed his lone pass attempt to Ayden Wheeler for a 15-yard touchdown.
Defensive standouts included Day with seven tackles, Kensing and Isaac Smith with six tackles, Vazquez with five tackles and a fumble recovery, and Wheeler also pounced on a loose ball.
Next week, Blanket is at Evant (0-4), which is coming off a 66-19 loss to Rochelle.

Zephyr 58, Olfen 0
ZEPHYR – The Zephyr Bulldogs extended their win streak to four games, securing a 58-0 homecoming win against the Olfen Mustangs Friday night.
The Bulldogs (4-1) allowed just 8 yards of total offense to Olfen (0-4) – 42 passing and negative-34 rushing – with three takeaways.
On the offensive end, Zephyr produced 221 yards – 147 rushing and 74 passing.
Jayden Millican rushed for 63 yards and two touchdowns on his only two carries and hurled a 50-yard scoring toss to Karsen Floyd on his lone pass attempt.
Tripp Ballard added 33 yards rushing and two touchdowns, Eathan Gowin rushed for a 28-yard touchdown, Johnny Paul Evans-Rollins tacked on 27 yards and a touchdown, and Aaron Fagan contributed a 1-yard touchdown carry.
Through the air, Rhett Williams tossed a 24-yard pass to Trapper Schoenhals.
Evans-Rollins and Kaden Floyd led the Bulldogs with six tackles apiece followed by Ballard with five, Millican with four, and Karsen Floyd with three takedowns. Evans-Rollins and Cash Whisenhunt intercepted passes, while Millican and Gowin each recorded a safety.
Next week, Zephyr heads to Brookesmith (0-4) – which will play Blackwell Saturday night – in a Brown County battle for the Mustangs’ homecoming game.

Comanche 31, Albany 28
ALBANY – The Comanche Indians recovered from their first loss of the season and handed the Class 2A Division II No. 2 Albany Lions a second consecutive defeat, 31-28.
The Indians (4-1), who fell to Tolar, 45-14, last week, overcame a 14-0 first-quarter deficit to the Lions (3-2).
Comanche tallied 401 total yards, with 389 coming on the ground on 47 rushes. Sawyer Wilkerson again led the charge with 281 yards followed by Cayden Davis with 107 yards. Through the air, Layden Welch connected on 3 of 5 passes for 12 yards with an interception.
Ayden Fishback led the Indians with 12 tackles followed by Easton Gonzalez with nine and Kyler Beaty with six tackles.
Next week, Comanche is off before hosting Millsap (3-2) – who fell against Clifton, 30-22, Friday night – in the District 5-3A Division II opener.

Coleman 61, Goldthwaite 0
COLEMAN – The Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Class 2A Division I sixth-ranked Coleman Bluecats rebounded from their only loss of the season Friday night in the District 5 opener, keeping the Goldhwaite Eagles winless in the process.
Coleman (4-1, 1-0) limited Goldthwaite (0-5, 0-1) to 32 yards of total offense with three turnovers, while producing 531 yards – 389 rushing and 142 passing.
Ryland Gentry finished with 180 rushing yards and four touchdowns for Coleman, followed by Jadin Jackson with 100 yards and a score, Blaine Bouldin with 44 yards and a trip to the end zone, Dayden Hunter with 36 yards and two touchdowns, and Jaden Espitia with 15 yards and a score on the ground.
Jackson also completed 9 of 13 passes for 142 yards, connecting with Braxton Smith on six receptions for 92 yards. Keaton Beets finished with two catches for 24 yards and Hagen Cavanaugh hauled down a 26-yard reception.
For Goldthwaite, Bryce Brookings connected on 2 of 10 passes for 15 yards with two interceptions. Collin Gardner hauled in a 10-yard reception.
Marcus Stevens was the top rusher for the Eagles with 17 yards and Cutter Campbell tacked on 14 yards.
Next week Coleman travels to San Saba (4-1, 0-1), which fell by a 40-28 count to Hamilton Friday. Meanwhile, Goldthwaite welcomes De Leon (3-2, 0-1), which suffered a 49-21 loss to Bangs Friday night.

Cross Plains 45, Smyer 20
SNYDER – The Cross Plains Buffaloes wrapped up pre-district competition with a flawless record as they handled Smyer, 45-20, Friday night in neutral site action.
Cross Plains (5-0) overcame a three-interception performance offensively as the defense recorded four picks of its own.
Noah Moses rushed for 126 yards and two touchdowns to spark the offense, while Asher Moses chipped in 59 yards and two rushing scores. Riley Conlee added 45 rushing yards, while Dusty Wyatt tacked on 42 yards.
Through the air, Kade Purvis connected on 8 of 15 passes for 160 yards with a pair of scoring tosses. Wyatt caught four passes for 84 yards and a score, Ryan Reed grabbed two passes for 46 yards and scored once, Ryder Reed hauled in a 17-yard reception and Asher Moses pulled down a 13-yard catch.
Defensively, Noah Moses picked off two passes while Coltyn Barron and Ryan Reed added interceptions as well. Smyer (1-4) finished with 166 yards of total offense – 132 passing and 34 rushing on 18 carries.
Next week, Cross Plains is off before starting District 6-2A Division action against Roscoe (3-1), which is coming off a 60-32 loss to New Home.

Richland Springs 74, Coolidge 30
JONESBORO – The Class A Division II No. 2 Richland Springs Coyotes played their first game of the post-Jerry Burkhart era and cruised to a 74-30 victory over the Coolidge Yellow Jackets Friday.
Richland Springs (4-0) finished with 372 yards of total offense – 270 in the ground and 102 through the air – while allowing 316 yards – 182 rushing and 134 passing – to Coolidge (1-4), with a pair of takeaways.
Braxton Ethridge rushed for 180 yards and three touchdowns, completed 3 of 4 passes for 102 yards with a pair of scoring tosses, and scored on a 57-yard kick return.
Cohen Tharp caught two passes for 83 yards and a touchdown and Kenny Triplett hauled in a 19-yard scoring toss.
On the ground, Keston Lusty added 53 yards and a touchdown, Hutton Rogers chipped in 38 yards with a trip to the end zone, Billy Perry finished with 25 yards and a score, and Brandon Stewart generated 16 yards with a touchdown.
Defensively, Stewart recorded a team-high eight tackles with an interception, followed by Tharp and Lusty with six tackles each, Triplett and Rogers with five apiece, and Jeremiah Beam and Jayden Sutherland with three tackles each.
Next week, the Coyotes are off and will begin District 16-A Division II action on Oct. 7 against No. 4 Cherokee (5-0), a 50-0 winner over Sidney Friday night.

Hamilton 40, San Saba 28
HAMILTON – The San Saba Armadillos’ four-game win streak reached its conclusion in the District 5-2A Division I opener, as the Hamilton Bulldogs snatched a 40-28 victory.
San Saba (4-1, 0-1) finished with 312 yards of total offense against Hamilton (3-2, 1-0), but rushed for just 67 yards on 25 carries – which had been the Armadillos’ strength during pre-district action.
Quarterback Lance Taylor completed 17 of 25 passes for 245 yards with three touchdowns and one interception, and rushed for 25 yards and a score. Tyler Johnson caught 11 passes for 114 yards and two touchdowns, while Lane Miller finished with two grabs for 92 yards and scored once. Ethan Gonzales rushed for a team-high 40 yards and chipped in three receptions for 31 yards.
Defensively, Zuri Herrera recorded 13 tackles followed by Winton Lackey with 12, Taylor and Dylan Ware with eight each, Johnson and Jesus Betancourt with seven apiece, and Christian Ramirez with six.
Next week, the Armadillos will attempt to bounce back at home against Coleman (4-1, 1-0), which mauled Goldthwaite, 61-0, Friday night.
