DUBLIN – The Brownwood Lady Lions captured the team championship, while the Lions finished as runners-up at the Dublin FCA Invitational cross country meet Wednesday.
Sidney Windham won the meet in a time of 13:44, a full 20 seconds faster than her nearest competitor, to spark the Lady Lions’ performance. Also, Caleb Nelson was the top finisher in the varsity boys event in a time of 17:41.
The Lady Lions garnered 34 points to outdistance Brock (67 points), Breckenridge (83), San Saba (119), Comanche (120), Gorman (143) and Dublin (152).
The Lions produced 85 points, which trailed only San Saba (70) and finished just ahead of third-place Brock (95).
Other Lady Lions placed in the Top 10 included Kate Tindol (7th, 14:17) and Braycee Lee (10th, 14:42). Kylea Karnes (14th, 14:52), Miranda Northcutt (15th, 14:54), Talia Craff (26th, 15:44), and Alma Bernal (29th, 15:57) rounded out the Lady Lions’ performance.
For the Lions, Luke Gray chipped in a sixth-place performance of 18:51 followed by Dayton Zamora (27th, 21:16), Noah Lambert (29th, 21:21), Easton Judkins (31st, 21:37), and Braylin Harvey (39th, 23:48).
The JV Lady Lions also finished first as a team with 33 points, five better than runner-up Comanche (38).
Runners included Arieseli Hernandez (1st, 15:20), Kiara Delce (3rd, 16:01), Haylee Adkins (4th, 16:33), Jazmin Rivas (13th, 20:49), and Ashley Robinson (21st, 25:29).
Brownwood will be back in cross country action Wednesday, Sept. 28 back in Dublin for the Dublin Dash.
