The Brownwood Police Department issued the following press release Monday regarding weekend arrests:
On Friday, Sept. 16, at approximately 6 p.m. officer James Holdar received information from other officers that 61-year-old Harold James Carter of Brownwood provided false information to them on a recent traffic stop. Carter identified himself as “Larry” to the officers. Holdar was provided Carter’s identifying information and was further informed of a warrant for Carter’s arrest.
At approximately 8:40 p.m., Holdar observed a vehicle reported as being operated by Carter in the 500 block of W. Commerce. Holdar initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle after observing the same defective brake lights which were noted during the original stop.
As Holdar approached the vehicle, the driver exited and provided a copy of the previous traffic stop and again identified himself as Larry. Larry was detained then questioned about his identity and a warrant for his arrest. Larry affirmed his true identity as Harold James Carter and further affirmed that he was aware of the warrant for his arrest. Carter was arrested and charged with Failure to Identify along with the warrant out of Brown County for a probation violation.
Additionally, the passenger identified himself as Jesse Williams but was unable to provide any information to confirm his identity. Computer research of tattoos and markings indicated that the passenger may be 37-year-old Patrick Clintall Thompson. Jesse continually denied being Thompson but given the visual evidence in the computer, he was detained and transported to the Brown County Jail as well. At the jail, Jesse did confirm his true identity and correct date of birth and was found to have 3 outstanding warrants for his arrest for family violence offenses. Thompson was arrested for the warrants and further charged with Failure to Identify.
